What is a HICORP 3-Way transfer valve?

A HICORP 3-Way transfer valve diverts flow from a single inlet to one of two outlet trains — or from one of two inlet trains to a single outlet — in a continuous-flow changeover. It uses the same positive mechanical shoe-seal technology as the 6-way valves for zero-leakage shutoff.

What sizes are available for the HICORP 3-Way valve?

Available in 1½", 2", 3", 4", and 6" with ANSI Class 150 or Class 300 flanged connections. Carbon steel or stainless steel body.

How does the 3-Way differ from the 6-Way?

A 3-Way valve has three ports — one common and two equipment-train ports — and switches one stream between two trains. A 6-Way valve has six ports and switches two streams (supply and return) simultaneously between two trains, providing complete isolation of the off-line train.

Can the HICORP 3-Way replace an existing HYCOA 3-Way valve?

Single-Stream Continuous Flow Diverter

The HICORP 3-Way valve has three ports — one common and two equipment-train ports — and diverts a single process stream between two trains without interrupting flow. It is the compact solution when only one stream (supply or return, not both) needs to be switched.

For applications requiring complete isolation of the off-line train on both supply and return, two 3-Way valves or a single 6-Way valve are used. The 3-Way is often the right choice for simpler single-circuit switching, or where space constraints make a 6-Way impractical.

Available in carbon steel or 304L / 316L stainless steel with Buna-N, Viton®, or Neoprene seals to match your process fluid and temperature requirements.

3-Way vs. 6-Way — Which Do You Need?

Choose the 3-Way when:

Only one stream (supply or return) needs switching
Space constraints limit valve size
A simpler single-circuit diverter is sufficient
Two 3-Way valves will be used for full isolation

Choose the 6-Way when:

Both supply and return must switch simultaneously
Complete isolation of the off-line train is required
A single valve replaces two 3-Way valves
API 614 duplex filter switching is specified
